Athlete

Athlete is an early salad variety with strong blight resistance, good tuber numbers and excellent eating qualities.

Firm to cook with a fresh earthy taste and even size, it produces a lot of small pale yellow skinned tubers with pale yellow flesh colour. The tubers are oval, with shallow eyes. Athlete is slightly susceptible to Common Scab if grown on sandy soils and needs irrigation.

Boasting both Foliage and Tuber Blight resistance, Athlete is very suitable for organic production, requiring low inputs. The dry matter content is quite high giving good cooking and frying quality.
