French Fry Championship 2025

Desmazières official partner of French fry championship

On Saturday 27 September 2025 the Grand’Place in Arras (Pas-de-Calais) hosted the 3rd edition of the World French Fry Championship. An official partner since 2023, Desmazières once again made its mark by distributing over 4,000 bags of Artemis potatoes as part of its FRITES ART concept.

Now an unmissable event, the championship brought together nearly 50,000 visitors this year – a record attendance surpassing the previous edition. This enthusiasm confirms the success of this popular and friendly celebration, where master fryers share their know-how.

Through this participation, Desmazières highlights the importance of choosing the right potato varieties to make truly authentic homemade chips. Visitors were able to discover three flagship varieties specially developed for frying: Artemis, Babylon and Excellency.

From the very first edition, the Artemis variety won over the public and remains a benchmark today. This focus on varietal quality reflects the company’s ambition to raise awareness among the wider public while asserting its role as a key player in the potato sector.

Dutchman wins
The 2025 edition was also marked by the victory of Siem Bruggen (Arnhem, Netherlands), the winner of the ‘Authentic Fry’-category. His unusual technique – incorporating a first cooking stage in water, inspired by traditional English fish & chips – impressed the jury and caused a stir, a first in the competition.

Beyond the fries, it was a unifying moment for the entire Desmazières team, proud to share this highlight with the public and to promote varietal excellence in the service of flavour.
