Background

Palace (a fries variety) originated from the Agrico Research breeding program and was selected from a special cross. The mother (AR 01- 3350) is a cross between an American imported cross parent and the German consumer variety Laura. The father (ADD 93-20902) is a diploid level seedling from the Agrico Research breeding program. Palace falls between the Marquis and the Fontane in terms of ripening times. This variety performs well under warmer conditions, such as in Central and Southern Europe. In addition, Palace has the same potato virus Y resistance as Agria. Another advantage of this potato is its skin quality. Palace has a great skin that offers more possibilities in the market than just processing.

The name Palace was proposed by an Agrico employee and chosen by a special selection committee.

De naam is voorgesteld door een medewerker van Agrico en via een speciale selectiecommissie is de naam Palace gekozen.
