Background

The crossing resulting in the Spectra variety was made by Agrico Research in 2003. The purpose of this crossing (Arielle x Sofia) was to create an early consumer variety. The company Lantmännen Seed selected this variety even before the Agrico tests were judged to be good enough. Spectra has an attractive skin and provides a good yield.

The Spectra variety is specifically suited to the European retail sector. Its attractive presentation, good yield and easy production are properties highly valued by the supermarket chains and their packers.

The name Spectra refers to the broad sales potential of this variety, which can serve almost the entire fresh potato spectrum in the supermarket chains.
