Fairly new, yet very succesful!

Every year Agrico selects a number of varieties that warrant extra attention. These “spotlight varieties” are young, innovative varieties, that are currently taking the market by storm. These varieties are already highly valued by our customers, based on the initial deliveries. This year, Agrico’s spotlight varieties are Lugano and Jacky. Watch the variety videos below in which our potato experts update you on our spotlight varieties Lugano and Jacky.

Lugano

The Lugano variety originated from a cross between two parent lines, both selected to achieve potato cyst nematode resistance. Lugano therefore has very broad nematode resistance. The variety has large tubers and good processing properties. It also has good dormancy and storability. This makes Lugano very successful in the french fries industry and the traditional markets

  • Large tubers
  • Multiple resistances
  • Good storability

Jacky

Jacky is a promising variety, characterized by its beautiful small tubers and the very high tuber number per plant. Its cooking type is floury, making the variety extremely suitable for the ware potato segment and the convenience market. Jacky has a strong late blight resistance in foliage and tuber and is therefore part of Agrico’s Next Generation portfolio. In the small size potato segment, Jacky is an important variety for the future. The variety will offer great added value in both cultivation and on the consumer’s plate.

  • Rather floury cooking
  • High tuberisation
